Customer Spotlight - Maggie and Dom of BiteSizeTravels

Dominic Crosby and Maggie Lam are working nomads in the tech space and dedicated travelers who have spent the last few years exploring North America and beyond. Known on Instagram as @bitesizetravels, Dom and Maggie have focused their lives on reconnecting with nature and seeing as much of the world as they can.

In 2018, they converted a Dodge Sprinter into a camper, put their belongings in storage and headed out from the San Francisco area to see the United States. They took along their Bay ST kayaks from Oru and made it a big part of their adventures.

Before 2017, Dom and Maggie were only occasional paddlers. But, now that they are enjoying life on the road, they have more time to hit the water and take off for adventures. Currently based close to Lake Tahoe, the couple have made kayaking a major part of their new, freer lifestyle.

To Maggie, the Bay ST was the perfect choice. Small enough to handle easily, she considers it an excellent mid-range model for lake, river and bay excursions. Because of its narrow, sleek profile, the couple find it to be the perfect calm water match.

Living in the Bay Area meant having limited storage space. Once on the road, the couple needed something that could be easily stowed inside the camper instead of on top -- where they had installed solar panels. They found that the Bay ST fit the bill and stowed neatly with limited space availability.

And, they’ve taken it with them -- just about everywhere you can imagine.

Dom and Maggie have traveled to Maine, the Florida Keys, the western United States and many, many points between.

Lake Tahoe is currently the couple’s favorite place to kayak. The alpine surroundings give Dom and Maggie plenty of great photographic opportunities which they share with thousands of followers on Instagram.

Some of their other favorites include Antelope Canyon in Arizona. Here, they fell in love with the naturally-occuring slots along the way. They’ve also enjoyed excursions in Lake Mead, Lake Superior, Lake Acadia in Maine and Jordan Pond (which they say is much larger than the name implies).

We at Oru love hearing from customers like Dom and Maggie. They truly embrace the great outdoors and we love their get-up-and-go spirit.
